WENHAM, Mass. (10/1/2026) - The Nichols College field hockey team defeated Gordon College 3-0 on Thursday evening at Brigham Athletic Complex, ending a four-game skid on the road in conference play.
With the victory, the Bison improve to 4-5 (2-1 CNE) record, while Gordon College falls to 1-9 (0-4 CNE).
Spencer Cameron scored Nichols' first goal, as well as her first of the season off an assist by Sofia Calabro to get the Bison off to a 1-0 lead 5:15 into the first quarter. Following the assist on the first strike, Calabro scored a goal of her own at 7:44 into the first quarter, which was good for her fifth of the season. The Bison continue capitalizing off their offensive momentum with another goal by Calabro nearing the end of the second quarter, sending the Bison into halftime with a comfortable 3-0 lead over Gordon.
The second half featured a strong defensive effort from both teams as Gordon would not allow the Bison to score off their three shots in the third quarter. Senior goalkeeper Fallyn Belisle kept the Bison's lead safe with an early fourth quarter save, preserving the shutout and eventually closing the game out for a conference victory.
Emma Bianculli led the Bison with seven shots, while Sofia Calabro added five, combining 12 of Nichols' 18 total attempts.
The Bison will return to Michael J. Vendetti Field on Saturday, October 3rd for their "Play for a Cure" game against conference opponent Roger Williams University (6-3, 1-1 CNE) at 11:00 AM.
