Three Bison Score in Non-Conference Loss at No. 13. Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine (1/27/2026) - The Nichols College women's ice hockey team traveled to No. 13 Colby College to compete in non-conference competition at the Jack Kelley Rink. Following a tough-fought game, the Mules produced a third period surge that proved to be instrumental in an 8-3 win over the Bison.

Nichols drops to 5-14 following their loss to Colby, seeing their conference record unchanged. The Mules improve to 12-4 with the win.

The first period proved to be relatively uneventful on both sides. For shots, the Bison and Mules posted a 4-22 split, boasting strong defense from the Bison goaltender, Taylor Daley, and her 12 saves to keep the game even. Nichols was ahead in the block battle to start, seeing a block-a-piece from Sienna Reeves and Kerstin Ambruso, two more than Colby, as they tallied zero for the first period. Both teams skated off the ice at the horn, 0-0.

Within a minute into the second, Keira Goffe knocked down her ninth goal of the season at 19:37. Assisted by Kaylyn Bourque and Rhea Bullens, Goffe's score as of the end of the game ties her for second in the Conference of New England (CNE) for total goals this season. The Bison held the lead for around four minutes before Colby equalized with a score of their own at 15:32, 1-1. Colby bolstered their lead even further with three goals to close out the second period, Bison now down, 1-4.

The third saw the start of an early rally for the Bison; Bourque's seventh goal of the season came at 17:36, with Bourque still on the CNE ladder for most goals in a season. Goffe secured her second point of the night with the assist, with an extra assist accrued by Bison assists leader Sienna Reeves. A goal followed shortly after at 15:50 from the offensive efforts of Angalisa Caceda, assisted by Kasey Litwin and Avery Moriarty. Despite a strong effort from the Bison to find a path back to a lead now at 3-4, the Mules scored four unanswered goals in the third period, leading them to an 8-3 win.

Women's ice hockey will see competition next at Salve Regina University's home ice of Howard Rink. The Bison will see an 8:00 PM start time on Friday, January 30th.
