Women’s Ice Hockey Lose Final Non-Conference Game of the Season at Salve Regina, 4-2

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (1/30/2026) The Nichols College women's ice hockey team traveled to the Howard Rink for their final non-conference matchup of the season against Salve Regina University. After 60 minutes of play, the Bison skated to a hard-fought loss on Friday night in Middletown, Rhode Island.

After the result, Nichols falls to 5-14-0 on the season (2-11-0 CNE), while Salve Regina climbs to .500 at 10-10-0.

The Bison struck first midway through the opening period. Taylor Breen opened the scoring at the 6:28 mark of the first, finishing off a play set up by Kaylyn Bourque and Keira Goffe to give Nichols an early 1-0 advantage. Nichols generated steady offensive pressure throughout the period, while Nichols' goaltender Paige Almon turned aside every Salve Regina chance to preserve the lead heading into the intermission.

Salve Regina responded in the second period with a pair of goals to briefly swing momentum. Reese Pereira tied the game early in the frame before Ashtyn Bringardner added another just seconds later to put the Seahawks ahead 2-1. Nichols answered back midway through the period when Ema Jaskova netted the equalizer, capitalizing on assists from Riley Devlin and Cela MacDougall to knot the score at 2-2.

Salve Regina regained the lead _ minutes into the third period through an even-strength goal from Jennifer Drevitch, who was assisted by Reese Pereira and Caroline Batchelder. The Bison generated shots throughout the period but were denied by Salve's goaltender Taylor Hannafan. With 2:52 left in the period, Almond was pulled for the extra skater advantage to search for the equalizer, but the Seahawks would score an empty-netted goal with 13 seconds remaining to finish the game 4-2 in favor of Salve Regina.

Junior Paige Almon ended the game with 29 saves, while Ema Jaskova led the Bison with 7 shots on goal, including her goal in the second period.

The Bison return to Conference of New England action next Friday, February 6th, when they host Western New England University at the Levy Rink. Puck drop is set for 3:40 PM.
