Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Salem State Holds Women’s Soccer to 0-0 Draw

SALEM, Mass. (9/30/2025) – Nichols College Women's Soccer team traveled to Salem, Massachusetts, for their final non-conference match of the season against Salem State University. After 90 minutes of a back-and-forth battle, the Bison and Vikings played to a 0-0 stalemate.

Nichols now sits at 1-9-1 (0-3 CNE) on the season, while Salem State moves to 5-3-2.

The Bison turned in a strong defensive performance in the first half, holding the hosts to only three shots on goal while generating several quality scoring opportunities of their own. Despite the effort, the teams would go into the half scoreless.

The offenses picked up in the second half, as both teams recorded 6 shots on goal, but both keepers were up to the test. Nichols' best chance of the night came in the 63rd minute from a corner kick that found the foot of graduate student Caroline Shields. Her initial shot was cleared off the line by a defender, and her follow-up effort forced another save from the Vikings' goalkeeper. Shields led the offensive effort, recording four shots, three of which were on target.

Junior goalkeeper Hannah Deschene recorded her first collegiate clean sheet with her performance, tallying 9 saves on the night.

Graduate Student Caroline Shields led the way offensively, recording four shots with three of them being on goal, testing the Vikings' goalkeeper Ava Guyer.

Women's Soccer's next match will be at home on Saturday, October 4th, when they return to conference play against Curry College for the Hallie Linacre Memorial Game. The kickoff of the match is set for 12 PM.
