DUDLEY, Mass. (9/27/2025) – Nichols College Men's Soccer returned home for the first time in two weeks for their homecoming match against Western New England University. In the Bison's third Conference of New England match, they could not keep up with the Golden Bears and fell 7-0 to them.
After today's results, Nichols moves to 1-5-3 (0-2-1), while WNE pushes ahead to 3-6 (2-1 CNE)
The game started with Western New England University's Ben Riley scoring two goals in under five minutes to push the Golden Bears ahead 2-0 in the first 20 minutes of the game.
Nichols' best chance of the game came from a
William Pugliese-Savage free kick in the 24th minute, where he struck the wrong side of the post from 25 yards out to keep the game at 2-0.
Jayden Montagna, Tyler Lewis, and Shay O'Neill would tack on three more goals for the Golden Bears before halftime to make it 5-0 in favor of the Golden Bears going into halftime.
Ben Riley completed his hat trick for WNE in the 53rd minute when he found the ball in behind the back line of Nichols, dribbled around the keeper, and finished into the empty net.
The Golden Bears found their last goal of the game in the 87th minute when Nick Edward converted from the penalty spot to make the final score 7-0.
Anthony Grguric started in goal today for the Bison, recording seven saves in the 90 minutes played.
Men's Soccer go back on the road on Wednesday when they travel to Fitchburg, Massachusetts, to face Fitchburg State University on Wednesday, October 1st at 4 PM. This will be their last non-conference match of the season.
