Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Freshmen Power Bison Past Falcons, 3-1

FITCHBURG, Mass. (10/1/2025) – Nichols College men's soccer went on the road for its final non-conference match of the season. After conceding in the first two minutes, the Bison responded strongly, scoring three unanswered goals thanks to three different freshman goal scorers to come away with a 3-1 win after 90 minutes of play.

With the win, Nichols improves to 2-5-3 (0-2-1 CNE), while Fitchburg State drops to 2-7-1.

The hosts struck early, as Fitchburg's Rick Da Moura buried a shot just 97 seconds into the match from a perfectly weighted through ball by Michael Vazquez, putting the Falcons up 1-0. Nichols responded in the 36th minute when Lukas Salvador collected the ball outside the 18-yard box following a defensive error. He connected with freshman forward Ayden Gardner, who slotted it into the bottom right corner to tie the game 1-1 heading into halftime.

Nichols carried that momentum into the second half, taking the lead in the 56th minute through freshman Alexandro Montreuil. His goal, assisted by Parker Zynda, marked Zynda's first collegiate point.

In the 82nd minute, Kamal Saad added insurance for the Bison, heading in a corner kick from Salvador to seal the 3-1 victory.

Salvador played a key creative role in the match, tallying two assists. Gardner, Montreuil, and Saad all recorded their first collegiate goals in the win.

In goal, Derek Axon started and played all 90 minutes, making five saves in the victory.

Nichols men's soccer looks to build on this momentum when it returns home on Saturday to face Curry College at 3 PM in a Conference of New England matchup.
