Women’s Soccer Blanked by WNE, 2-0

DUDLEY, Mass. (9/26/2025) – Nichols College Women's Soccer team hosted their homecoming match against Western New England University on Friday afternoon in Dudley, Massachusetts. After a quiet first half, Western New England University found a spark that ignited two goals to push them ahead of the Bison. Final score: 2-0.

With the loss, Nichols moves to 1-9 (0-3 CNE), while Western New England University now sits at 4-3-2 (2-1 CNE).

Both teams exchanged chances in the first half, but neither team could capitalize on them. Freshman goalkeeper Isabella Dupret came up with multiple big saves to keep the Golden Bears out. Graduate student Caroline Shields had a great opportunity in the 44th minute to give Nichols the lead when the ball was crossed to her in the box, but Ainsley Napolitano made a diving save to keep the ball out. The Bison and Golden Bears went into halftime at 0-0.

In the second half, the Golden Bears utilized their speed to break through the Bison's back line to find their two goals. In the 52nd minute, Golden Bears' Gabby Sansone found herself one-on-one with Dupret through a beautiful pass from Meghan Hartnett and finished it into the bottom left corner to make it 1-0.

WNE added a security blanket in the 63rd minute when Gabby Sansone raced down the line and whipped in a cross to Sophia Scyocurka, who volleyed it into the back of the net. The Bison had chances to come back, but none of them were capitalized on. The game ended 2-0 in favor of the Golden Bears.

Freshman Isabella Dupret was the goalkeeper for the Bison, putting up eight saves on the ten shots faced.

Women's Soccer's next match will be on Tuesday, September 30th, at Salem State University. The time of kickoff is set for 7 PM.
