DUDLEY, Mass. (9/20/25) - Nichols College women's tennis competed in their second conference game of the week on Saturday, trading blows with Suffolk University. At home, the Bison hosted the visiting Rams on the Robinson Tennis Courts. Continuing their high level of play, they were able to edge out the Rams, 6-1.
Coming off of said win, the Bison are now 4-0, and 2-0 in conference play. Suffolk falls to 0-5 following their loss, now 0-2 in for games against conference opponents.
Opening up doubles play, the first court saw the duo of
Pamela Gonzalez Vallardi and Kemora Helton. They were able to earn their win in dominant fashion, finishing up 6-0. The No. 2 court was the pair of
Charis Vogler and
Erin Helly. The pairing gave Helly her first taste of doubles action since a match against Brandeis last season. They were also able to get the job done in similar fashion, with a score of 6-1. Giving up court No. 3 with a win by default, the two victories allowed the Bison to claim the doubles point.
In singles, Nichols turned in a dominant singles performance as well. Gonzalez Vallardi struck first, cruising through the No. 3 court with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep. Vogler and
Cora Brosch marked identical performances at their respective courts, with scores of 6-0, 6-1. Helton powered past the competition on the No.1 court, 6-2, 6-0. Helly pulled out a thrilling comeback in three sets at No. 5, rallying 5-7, 6-4, 10-5 to solidify the final score at 6-1. The only point for Suffolk came from a win-by-default on the sixth singles court.
The Bison will be playing away for their next match, hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday, September 23th. The start time is set at 3:30 PM at the UMass Dartmouth Tennis Courts.
