NEWPORT, RI (9/17/2025) - The Nichols College men's tennis team opened up their fall competition for the 2025-26 season on the road against Salve Regina University at the Salve Regina Tennis Courts. Starting their play strong, the Bison were able sweep the Seahawks 7-0.
Being the first game, Nichols College start with a winning record of 1-0. Salve Regina falls to 0-1 following their loss.
The Bison set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches. The No. 1 court saw a freshmen led team in
William Albrikes and
Nikolas Bertrams. In similar fashion, court No. 3 was also played by freshmen Andre Emmel and
Jodha Singh. At the No. 2 position, co-captain
Mason Harris and newcomer
Ezra Raphael were paired to round out the doubles lineup. First to finish for the day were Emmel and Singh, holding the Seahawks 6-0. Harris and Raphael handled business with a score of 6-3, then to secure the doubles point at court No. 1 Albrikes and Bertrams picked up a 6-4 win.
Nichols carried their omentum into singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets.
Alexander Snitko (No. 6), Captain of the team
Joshua Alarcon (No. 5), and Bertrams (No. 2) produced 6-0, 6-0 wins consecutively to give the Bison their needed 4-0 comfortably.
Rodolfo Hernandez won at court No. 3 with a score of 6-1, 6-0, followed by
Felipe Gonzalez's 6-0, 6-1 at court No. 4. To finish match, Albrikes was able to claim the point at court No. 1 finishing 6-4, 6-0.
Highlighted by stellar performances from five newcomers and four flawless victories, the Nichols College men's tennis team looks to keep it rolling for their next match at Clark University on October 9th, at the Corash Tennis Courts, with a start time of 4:00 PM.
