SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (9/16/25) - The Nichols College women's tennis team entered conference play for the first time in the 2025-26 season against Western New England University at the Forest Park Tennis Courts. The Bison competed in their best showing yet, marking a 6-1 victory against the Golden Bears.
Their success in Springfield earns them their third win of the season, a still undefeated 3-0. The Bison also open up conference play 1-0. Following the loss, Western New England's record falls to 0-2 and 0-1 in conference play.Â
Doubles play lineups remained the same seeing
Kamora Helton and Pamela Gonzalez Valardi on the No. 1 court, followed by
Charis Vogler and
Cora Brosch for No. 2. Like the two previous matches, court No. 3 was listed as a win by default. Vogler and Brosch produced a sweep on the second court, finishing first in the competition. Helton and Gonzalez Vallardi were able to secure the point posting a score of 6-2.
Out of the five courts in use for singles play, the Bison were able to claim straight set victories across the board. Finishing first, Gonzalez Vallardi won with scores of 6-1, 6-0. Vogler swept the No. 2 court to finish second overall in the competition. Following Vogler's sweep, Helton earned the No. 3 position's point with scores of 6-2, 6-1. Brosch was able to finish fourth claiming her court with scores of 6-1, 6-3.
Erin Helly finished the day's competition winning 6-0, 6-2, and effectively setting the Bison's score for the match at 6-1. The point for the Golden Bears comes off of a win by default for court No. 6.
The Bison will continue to compete in conference play at home against Suffolk University on Saturday, September 20th at noon.
