Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Falls Short to Rivier University

DUDLEY, Mass. (9/16/2025) – The Nichols College women's soccer team hosted the Rivier University Raiders for a non-conference match on a sunny Tuesday afternoon. After the two teams traded goals back and forth in the first half, the Raiders pulled away with the game in the second half to win 7-2.

The Bison's now sit at 1‑6 (0‑1 CNE) while the Raiders improve to 3-3-1 on the season.

Both teams came out strong to start the game, as a flurry of goals went in during the first 7 minutes of the game. The Bison opened the scoring in the 2nd minute when Falyn Hunt slotted the ball in the bottom left corner off a through ball from Madison Dembowski. That was Hunt's second goal of the season and Dembowski's first collegiate assist.

The Raiders responded a minute and seven seconds later through a Leah Morrier shot from outside the 18 yard box that went over Isabella Dupret. This was Morrier's fifth goal of the season.

The tie held for 3 minutes before Carroll Shields gave Nichols the lead back with a head off the corner kick, adding to Graduate Student's great season through the first seven games.

Falyn Hunt almost extended the lead in the 11th minute, as she received the ball of a ricocheted shot from Haley Bethin, but would ultimately shoot the ball over the crossbar for a goal kick.

The Raiders found momentum shortly after, adding a goal in the 17th minute and the 21th minute to take the lead over the Bison. That lead would carry over into half time as the teams exited the field for half time with the score 3-2 in favor of the Raiders.

Rivier continued right where they left off in the second half, scoring 4 unanswered goals to make the final score 7-2. The Raiders goal scorers in the second half were Samantha Franks, Bailey Gatchell, Bianca Casna, and Drea Dwyer.

Freshman goalkeeper Isabella Dupret started her 7th game in a row, posting 8 saves on the night.

Nichols women's soccer will head up to Biddeford, Maine to face off against CNE foe University of New England on Saturday, September 20th at 3 PM.
