Bison Share Points with the Buccaneers, 1-1

DUDLEY, Mass. (9/10/2025) – Nichols College and Massachusetts Maritime Academy both created great chances to grab a winner in the non-conference game on Wednesday night, but the sides played out a stalemate. Final score: 1-1.

The Bison now sit at 0-2-2 after back-to-back draws, while Massachusetts Maritime Academy stay undefeated on the season with a record of 3-0-1.

The Bison got off to a perfect start when Lukas Salvador played a perfectly weighted through ball to Ethan Knowles, who one times it into the side netting to make it 1-0 after 11 minutes. Nichols College carried on this momentum for the rest of the half, applying pressure onto the Buccaneers, but headed into the half at 1-0.

In the 53rd minute, the Buccaneers answered back on a free kick, as Joseph Hajjar crossed the ball into the back post and found PJ Cullivan, who headed the ball in to make it all tied.

The Buccaneers found themselves a great chance in the 69th minute, when Nicholas Dias received the ball from John Burke and forced a big save from Junior goalkeeper Anthony Grguric.

Nichols College's best chance came in the 80th minute, when Parker Zynda wins a 50/50 challenge and plays a great ball to freshman Avery Morse. Morse got on the end of the pass and got a shot off, but Massachusetts Maritime goalkeeper James Solari made a great save to keep Morse from extending his goal scoring streak to three games.

Grguric came up big for the Bison again in the 87th minute when he made a double save to keep the game tied with just 3 minutes left to play.

Freshman Kamal Saad had a standout performance, playing all 90 minutes of the day and displaying great composure to stop multiple Buccaneers attacks, including a goal line clearance in the 89th minute.

Nichols goalkeeper Anthony Grguric started for the second straight match today, making 5 saves in the 90 minutes he played.

Nichols are back at home this Saturday in their first CNE conference match against Johnson & Wales University. Time for kickoff is set for 1 PM on the Nichols Soccer Field.
