DUDLEY, Mass. (5/2/2025) – Top-seeded Nichols men's tennis defeated No. 3 Colby-Sawyer College, 4-0 to win the 2025 Conference of New England Championship, claiming its fourth straight and 15th overall conference title on Friday afternoon at the Robinson Tennis Courts.

The win lifts the Bison to 12-11 (9-0 CNE) on the year, and gives them the automatic bid into the upcoming NCAA Division III Tournament.

"I want to first congratulate Colby-Sawyer on a great match", said Nichols head coach Ron Gendron. "They were extremely well coached and disciplined, and an absolute pleasure to compete against. Also, this was a wonderful accomplishment for our seniors, and we are really looking forward to the next week and a half of work to see if we can develop and get prepared to play more top-tier talent. Go Bulls!"

The Bison set the tone early, securing wins at the bottom two doubles positions to clinch the first point of the match. Junior Leon Zeis and senior Oscar Junyent cruised to a 6-3 victory at the No. 3 flight, before seniors Kerem Subasi and Enzo Matos Balleux clinched the point with a similar 6-3 triumph at the No. 2 doubles position.

The Herd continued its winning ways in singles play, earning wins at the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 positions to complete the 4-0 sweep of the Chargers.  Subasi got the Bison started with a 6-3, 6- triumph on the No. 4 singles court, while Matos Balleux claimed a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the No. 5 singles slot to give Nichols a 3-0 lead. With a handful of hard-fought battles at the remaining courts, it would be senior Caio Dieckmann clinching the win for the Bison by scores of 6-1 and 7-6, winning the second set via a 7-3 tiebreak for the extra point.
