DUDLEY, Mass. (4/9/2025) - The Nichols College men's tennis team extended its conference winning streak to four matches on Wednesday with a 5-2 victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology on the Robinson Tennis Courts.
The Bison improve to 5-10 (4-0 CNE), while the Leopards drop to 5-8 (3-1 CNE).
Nichols opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning all three matchups. The No. 1 tandem of Caio Dieckmann and Richard Hartmann Luzio started things off with a 6-0 sweep, before Leon Zeis and Rodolfo Hernandez clinched the point for the Bison with a 6-3 decision at the No. 2 position. Enzo Matos Balleux and Jose Nunez made it a clean sweep for the Bison, defeating their No. 3 opponents, 6-1.
Oscar Junyent made it 2-0 for the Bison with a straight-set victory (6-1, 6-1) on court five to open singles play. Joshua Alarcon then took the win at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0, moments before Rodolfo Hernandez clinched the match for the Bison with a 7-5, 6-2 decision at the No. 2 position. The Bison picked up one more win in singles action, which came from Mason Harris at the No. 4 spot by a three-set final of 6-4, 4-6 and 6-2.
Felipe Gonzalez and William Bergendahl were also in the mix as the No. 1 and No. 6 singles players respectively, with the match marking Bergendahl's collegiate debut.
The Bison turn it right back around and host Suffolk University (0-7, 0-4 CNE) on Thursday, April 10th at 3:00 PM, while another half of the lineup travels to Colby-Sawyer College (7-6, 1-0 CNE) for a same-time start against the Chargers.
