Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Bison Claim Two Conference Wins Against Suffolk and Colby-Sawyer

DUDLEY, Mass. (4/10/2025) – The Nichols College men's tennis team took wins in two different conference locations Thursday, pairing a 7-0 home sweep of Suffolk University with a 6-1 road triumph at Colby-Sawyer College.

The Bison improve to 7-10 (5-0 CNE) overall with the dual wins.

Match #1 vs Suffolk University

All three Bison doubles tandems earned victories to score Nichols the point heading into singles play. To start, the freshman team of Felipe Gonzalez and Mason Harris recorded a 6-0 sweep at No. 3 doubles, moments before Joshua Alarcon and Hugo Cote clinched the point for the Bison at No. 2 doubles, winning by the same score in Cote's collegiate debut. The Bison then went three-for-three with a 6-2 victory at the top position, courtesy of Kerem Subasi and Alexander Snitko.

Nichols kept rolling with a full-on sweep of singles play, winning each matchup in straight sets. Snitko and Alarcon started it off with their second wins of the afternoon at No. 6 (6-0, 6-0) and No. 3 (6-0, 6-1) singles respectively, increasing Nichols' match lead to 3-0 over the Rams.  The Bison then clinched the match thanks to a 6-2, 6-0 victory from Oscar Junyent at No. 4 singles, while Kerem Subasi (6-1, 6-2) and Felipe Gonzalez (6-3, 6-2) claimed wins at the top two singles positions, pushing the score to 6-0 Bison.

Harris was the last to finish on court five, but did so by way of a 6-4, 6-2 win to complete the shutout for the Bison.

Match #2 at Colby-Sawyer College

Nichols took control right out of the gate, winning all three doubles matches to secure the first point of the afternoon. The third flight duo of Enzo Matos Balleux and Jose Nunez finished first with a 6-3 win, followed by a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles from Leon Zeis and Rodolfo Hernandez to clinch the point. The doubles sweep was completed when top duo Caio Dieckmann and Richard Hartmann Luzio narrowly defeated their competition at No. 1 doubles by a 7-6 margin.

In singles play, Nichols quickly put the match out of reach with wins at five-of-six singles matchups. Hartmann Luzio delivered the first singles win at No. 1 by scores of 6-2, 6-4, while Nunez followed with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles. The Bison followed with wins from Zeis (6-3, 6-1), Matos Balleux (6-4, 5-7, 10-3) and Dieckmann (6-4, 6-1), but the Chargers would spoil the shutout bid with a win at No. 6 singles, finalizing the 6-1 score.

Nichols men's tennis will return to action on Saturday, April 12th, when they travel to Division I Bryant University (9-9, 1-2 SLC) for a 10:00 AM match in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
