DUDLEY, Mass. (4/30/2025) – The top-seeded Nichols men's tennis team will have a shot at its 15
th conference title this upcoming weekend, after dispatching No. 4 seeded Endicott College, 4-1 in the CNE Tournament Semifinals on Wednesday afternoon at the Robinson Tennis Courts.
The Bison, who improve to 11-11 (9-0 CNE) overall, will be making their 14
th consecutive appearance in the conference title match.
The Bison began the day by taking the doubles point with wins at the top two flights.
Richard Hartmann Luzio and
Caio Dieckmann paired on a 6-4 win at the No. 1 position, while
Kerem Subasi and
Enzo Matos Balleux earned a 6-3 win over their opponent at No. 2.
In singles play, the Bison continued their offensive with convincing wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 matches, increasing their match lead to 3-0. Subasi was the first to finish, posting a 6-0, 6-0 final score at No. 4 singles, shortly before
Leon Zeis claimed the victory at No. 3 singles by scores of 6-2, 6-0. However, with their backs against the wall, the Gulls would spoil the Bison shutout bid with a two-set win on court six (6-0, 6-2), making it a 3-1 match.
The momentum shift would be short-lived for the Gulls, as Matos Balleux delivered the final knockout at No. 5 singles with his own straight-set decision (6-1, 6-0) to clinch the winning point for the Bison, ending the postseason match.
Nichols will host No. 3 seeded Colby-Sawyer College (13-7, 7-3 CNE) for the CNE Men's Tennis Championship Final on Friday at the Robinson Tennis Courts, with the official start time yet to be determined.
