NEW LONDON, Conn. (4/30/2025) – Despite a pair of 9
th inning runs, the Nichols College Baseball team dropped a non-conference game at the hands of Coast Guard on Wednesday afternoon. Nichols lost 9-5 with the loss.
Freshman
Ryan Keating and
Collin Harty each tallied three hits for the Bison. Keating recorded three singles, an RBI and a run scored. Harty hit a home run and tallied three RBI for the Bison.
Nichols opened the scoring in the first inning, with a single from senior
Karl Miller, who scored Keating in the process for a 1-0 lead. The Bison added to their lead in the second inning with a double off the bat of Harty, and scored sophomore
Anthony Hackert.
The Bears plated runs in the third inning, to take their first lead of the game, 3-2. Harty recorded his second hit in the fourth inning, scoring Hackert again for the Bison, evening the score at 3-3.
A six run seventh inning from Coast Guard sealed the win for them, as they won 9-5 over the Bison.
The Bison used eight pitchers in the game and sophomore
Mitch Brown (0-1) shoulder the loss for the Bison, with 2.0 innings in relief, while allowing one run on one hit and striking out one. Senior
Nolan Sullivan struck out three batters for the Bison to lead the team.
Nichols (22-15, 9-5 CNE) wrap up Conference of New England play on Friday afternoon as they welcome Curry College to the Nichols Baseball Field. First pitch is set for 12:45 p.m. as the Bison will honor their seniors pregame.
