DUDLEY, Mass. (4/22/2025) – The University of Hartford Hawks plated 19 runs with 24 hits and cruised to a 19-3 win over the Nichols College baseball team on Tuesday afternoon from the Nichols Baseball Field in Conference of New England (CNE).
The Hawks grabbed an early 1-0 lea din the top of the first inning. Nichols responded well with a three-run bottom of the first inning. Sophomore
Adam Pivacek doubled to left center field, scoring senior
Karl Miller and freshman
Ryan Keating in the process to make it 2-1. A single up the middle off the bat of senior
Andrew Croteau made it 3-1, and that was all the Bison were able to muster.
The Hawks then plated 13 runs in the third inning, to blow the game wide open and cruising to a 19-3 win over the Bison.
Senior
Richard Pignone (0-2) shouldered the loss with 2.1 innings pitched, allowing five runs. Nichols also threw senior
Tyler Moniz-Witten, sophomore
Chris Critchley, and junior
Casey Sexton in the loss.
Nichols (16-14, 6-5 CNE) will travel to Rivier tomorrow, for a mid-week non-conference matchup with the Raiders. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
