NASHUA, N.H. (4/23/2025) - Five Bison batters recorded multi-hit games as the Nichols College Baseball team scored nine unanswered runs to topple Rivier University in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon. Nichols scored five runs in the fourth to grab a lead and didn't look back.
The Raiders opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning. The first two runners reached and then a two out single through the left side plated the opening run. Both teams traded opportunities in the second and third before the Bison opened scoring for themselves and grabbed their first lead of the afternoon.
Back-to-back singles put runners on first and second. Senior
Andrew Croteau reached on a fielding error and scored senior
Karl Miller from second base. Sophomore
Anthony Hackert then singled, scoring teammate
Adam Pivacek, making it 2-1 Bison. Freshman
Collin Harty scored the third run of the inning, with a sacrifice fly, scoring Croteau in the process.
Galvan beat out and infield hit and then advanced to second on a throwing error, that scored Hackert. Jerome then doubled to right center field, scoring Galvan to make it 5-1 Nichols.
In the eighth inning, three straight walks loaded the bases for the Bison. Freshman
Ryan Keating then reached on an infield single, scoring classmate
Andrew Rocca from third, to make it 6-1 Bison. Miller then ripped a two RBI double to left center. A sacrifice fly from Pivacek added one more run for a 9-1 lead for the Bison.
Freshman
Dalton Holbrook (2-1) dominated on the mound throwing a complete game, while allowing five hits and striking out a season high nine batters in the win for the Bison.
Nichols (17-14, 6-5 CNE) will return home for a non-conference match-up featuring Clark University tomorrow afternoon from the Nichols Baseball Field. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
