DUDLEY, Mass. (4/2/2025) – The Nichols College Baseball returned the to the win column with a 16-4 win over the Dean College Bulldogs on Wednesday afternoon from the Nichols Baseball Field. The Bison saw 15 hits in the game and stellar pitching from freshman
Dalton Holbrook.
Senior
Andrew Croteau led the way for the Bison, going 2-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore
Anthony Hackert went 3-4 from the dish with a pair of RBIs and a pair of runs scored too. Junior
Liam Flynn was perfect from the plate, batting 2-2 with walk, two RBI and three runs scored.
The Bison scored the first pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning. Flynn doubled to center field and Hackert singled to right field, scoring Flynn in the process for a 1-0 lead. Freshman
Ryan Keating hi a sac-fly down the left line, scoring Hackert, adding to the Bison lead, 2-0.
The bottom of the fourth inning, saw Nichols open the scoring up, with a six-run inning to take an 8-0 lead. Sophomore
Adam Pivacek singled and then stole second. Freshman
Collin Harty walked and then a single from Flynn to left field, scored Pivacek. Hackert then singled to load the bases.
Senior
Ben Jerome beat out a double play ball, scoring Harty in the process and Nichols led 4-0. Jerome then stole second and Keating walked to reload the bases with one out. Senior
Karl Miller singled through the left side, scoring two runners. Croteau then reached on an error and scored two more runs for an 8-0 Bison lead after four innings.
Dean broke the shut out bid in the top of the fifth inning, but the Bison extended their lead with a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth innings. The Bison added another three runs in the seventh and one more in the eight inning, to take a16-4 win over the Bulldogs.
Freshman
Dalton Holbrook (1-0) earned his first collegiate win, throwing 6.0 innings of work, while allowing one run on three hits and striking out three batters. Freshman
Andrew Csordos and
Ashton Hammond, each earned an inning as well. Csordos allowed two runs on one hit and struck out one. Hammond allowed two hits and struck out two batters. Senior
Andrew Steinhubel finished the game in the ninth with a 1-2-3 inning.
Nichols (9-10. 1-4 CNE) will hit the road once again and travel to Suffolk University on Saturday afternoon from a Conference of New England (CNE) match-up. First pitch from East Boston Memorial Park is set for 12:00 p.m.
