DUDLEY, Mass. (4/16/2025) – The Springfield College Pride scored eight unanswered runs in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings to cruise past the Nichols College Baseball team on Wednesday afternoon from the Nichols College Baseball Field. The Bison lost 11-3 in non-conference action.
Springfield opened the scoring in the second inning with a bases-loaded walk to take a 1-0 lead. The Pride added two more runs in the fourth inning with a single to right field and then a sacrifice fly made it 3-0.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, junior
Julian Galvan reached on a single to the shortstop and scored senior
Karl Miller in the process. Freshman
Collin Harty then scored when the Pride's pitcher throw-over to the runner on first and scored on the error for it to be 3-2 Springfield.
Nichols pulled level in the bottom of the fifth inning, on a sacrifice fly from Miller, scoring senior
Ben Jerome in the process.
Back-to-back solo home runs from Springfield opened the flood gates and the Pride scored eight unanswered runs including another home run to left field in the ninth, to win 11-3 over the Bison.
Senior
Nolan Sullivan (0-2) earned the loss for the Bison, after throwing 1.2 innings, while allowing three earned runs on two hits. Teammate
Tyler Moniz-Witten started for the Bison, throwing 3.0 innings, allowing one run on one hits, and fanning six batters.
Nichols will hit the road for Conference of New England (CNE) action when they travel to Gordon College. First pitch from game one is set for 11:00 a.m.
