Nunez Scores Lone Point in Bison Loss at Brandeis

WALTHAM, Mass. (3/9/2025) – The Nichols College men's tennis team managed a point on Saturday, but lost nonetheless to host Brandeis University by a score of 6-1 at the indoor Gosman Athletic Center.

The Bison are now 1-7 overall on the year, while the Judges improve to a 3-3 mark.

The Judges got off to a good start by taking the doubles point, earning early 6-2 victories on courts one and two. The Bison did see one tandem come away with a win, however, as Richard Hartmann Zuzio and Caio Dieckmann claimed victory at No. 2 doubles, defeating their respective opponents, 6-3.

Brandeis went up 3-0 shortly into singles play after capturing 6-3, 6-4 win at the top court, and a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles. The Judges would then clinch the match moments later with a closely contested 7-6, 6-3 win at the No. 3 singles, with Leon Zeis battling for the Bison in that matchup. A win on court five made it a 5-0 match for the Judges, before junior newcomer Jose Nunez picked up his first win in a Bison uniform by scores of 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 singles. The Judges would finish out the match with a No. 6 singles win, with Enzo Matos Balleux challenging his opponent to a three-set tiebreak (7-5, 6-7, 2-10).

Men's Tennis will hop on the road to meet Villanova University (1-10) halfway in Media, Pennsylvania, with match time slated for Noon at Springton Racquet Club.
