MEDIA, Pa. (3/12/2025) – The Nichols College men's tennis team fell in its spring break meeting with Villanova University on Wednesday afternoon, as the Wildcats handed the Bison a 7-0 defeat at the Springton Racquet Club.
The Bison drop to 1-8 on the season with the loss.
The match opened with doubles play, where the Bison fell in all three matchups. On court No. 1,
Caio Dieckmann and
Richard Hartmann Zuzio fell 6-2, while the No. 2 doubles team of
Rodolfo Hernandez and
Jose Nunez also lost by the same final. Moments ahead of the No. 2 result, the Wildcats clinched the doubles point with a victory on court No. 3, defeating Bison duo
Leon Zeis and
Mason Harris by a score of 6-1.
The struggles continued in singles, as Nichols was unable to come away with a set. The most competitive set of the lineup came at No. 3 singles, where Zeis battled back in the second after surrendering a 6-1 decision in the first, before ultimately falling by a narrow 7-5 margin. No. 5 singles also saw a second set showdown with
Enzo Matos Balleux, with the senior falling by combined scores of 6-1 and 6-4.
Men's Tennis returns to regional play with an 11:00 AM match against Connecticut College (5-4, 1-3 NESCAC) on Saturday, March 22
nd at the Robinson Tennis Courts.
