Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Women's Hockey Outlasts Suffolk 4-2

BOSTON, Mass (2/8/2025) – A pair of power-play goals and a late goal from freshman Alexis Pacheco pushed the Nichols College women's hockey team past Suffolk University on Conference of New England (CNE) play on Saturday night. The Bison knocked off the Rams 4-2.

Graduate student Grace Melanson, senior Melissa Montesi, and freshmen Sophie Costello-Krakowski and Pacheco all found the back of the net for the Bison. Pacheco also chipped in with an assist, while junior Avery Moriarty added two assists.

Senior Katherine Segalla, junior Taylor Breen, sophomore Ema Jaskova, and freshmen Sienna Reeves and Angalisa Caceda all found the stat sheet with assists.

Melanson opened the scoring for the Bison for the second night in a row, with a power-play goal to make it 1-0 Nichols just 2:16 into the game. Costello-Krakowski doubled up the Bison lead with her second career goal.

In the second period, the Bison power-play continued to impress, as Montesi extended the Bison lead to 3-0 with a power-play goal of her own. Montesi set a new season high in goals with her fourth goal of the season.
Suffolk did not go away quietly and answered back twice, once at the end of the second period and one early in the third period to cut the lead to 3-2.

Pacheco sent the Rams home, with her goal with 34 seconds remaining in the game. Pacheco scored her second goal in as many games, as the two-goal lead proved too much for the Rams, as the Bison claimed a 4-2 win.

Senior McKenzie Muir turned away 40 shots in the win, while the power-play wa 2-4 and the penalty kill was perfect with a 1-1 effort.

The Bison play host to Curry on Friday, February 14th, from Levy Rink with puck drop set for 5:40 p.m.
