Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

#12 Endicott Tops Bison, 5-2

HARRISVILLE, R.I. (2/7/2025) – The Nichols College women's hockey scored twice in a 5-2 loss at the hands of #12 Endicott College on Friday night from Levy Rink in Conference of New England (CNE) play. Three third-period goals pushed the Gulls past the Bison.

Graduate student Grace Melanson and freshman Alexis Pacheco each scored goals for the Bison. Freshmen Kasey Litwin tallied a pair of assists in the loss, teammate Kerstin Ambruso and junior Avery Moriarty also found the stat sheet with assists of their own. Senior McKenzie Muir stopped 50 shots while shouldering the loss for the Bison.

After the Gulls opened the scoring with a shot in the slot that snuck through Muir and into the back of the net, the Bison answered back on the power-play.

After a face-off win, a point shot from Litwin was tipped in front by Melanson, over the Endicott goalie's shoulder, and into the net for a power-play goal. Ambruso and Litwin earned the assists on the first Bison goal.

The Bison edged the Gulls in shots 14-9 after 20 minutes of action in a 1-1 game. In the second period, the visitors scored once again to take the lead. This time Pacheco walked in down the side and ripped a slap shot into the top corner to equal the score at 2-2, as the Bison and Gulls remained tied through 40 minutes.

In the third period, the Gulls came out explosively and scored the go-ahead goal and eventual game-winning goal at the 4:23 mark. The fourth and fifth goals, 30 seconds apart, added some insurance from the Gulls and put the Bison away.

Nichols will hit the road for a conference match-up against Suffolk University on Saturday, February 8th. Puck drop is set for 6:50 p.m. from Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.
