HARRISVILLE, R.I. (2/21/2025) – The Nichols College men's hockey team and the Suffolk University Rams battled to a 1-1 tie in the 2025 regular-season finale for both sides. The Rams clipped the Bison 2-1 in the shootout on Friday night from Levy Rink.
Senior
Luke Harvie scored his first goal of the season, in his final home game with the Bison. Sophomore
Tristan Kimmen and freshman
Luca Ricci added assists on the opening goal. Freshman
Liam Choquette stopped 34 shots in the game, while earning the tie.
Harvie broke the ice at the 13:55 mark of the first period. Kimmen settled a puck in his feet and Ricci grabbed the loose puck before racing into the zone with Harvie on a 2-on-1. Ricci pulled up and delivered a perfect pass to Harvie who redirected the shot into the net.
Nichols took a 1-0 lead into the first period, being outshot 9-8 against the Rams. The visitors evened the scoring with a power-play goal, halfway through the second period. Suffolk carried play through the power-play and out shot the Bison 9-2 in the second period with the game tied 1-1 after 40 minutes.
Neither team found the back of the net in the third period, with each team earning a power-play opportunity. The Rams outshot Nichols 13-10 in the period. In the overtime period, the Bison found themselves with a 5-on-3 power-play opportunity but could not capitalize on the chance.
Suffolk scored on two of the three chances in a shootout, and for the Bison, senior
Nathan Carl scored the lone shootout goal for Nichols. The Bison grab the one point in the tie.
Nichols will travel to Suffolk University on Wednesday, February 26th with the team to be determined, for the quarterfinals of the Conference of New England (CNE) Tournament.
