BEVERLY, Mass. (12/4/2025) - Nichols College men's ice hockey traveled to the Raymond J. Bourque Arena late Thursday night for conference competition against No. 12 Endicott College. The match concluded with the Gulls scoring throughout unanswered, the final score 0-5.
Following the loss, the Bison are 4-5-0 on the season, and with the game being against a conference opponent, their CNE record evens out at 3-3-0. Endicott's win improves their record to 5-1-1, 3-1-1 in the Conference of New England.
The first period was almost evenly matched in the shot column. Nichols shot nine shots to Endicott's 10, but failed to have any pucks hit back net. On the other hand, the Gulls capitalized on their shot selection, scoring a goal quickly at 3:14 and following up their second and last score of the period at 12:53. Nichols was given the opportunity to play against an Endicott team with one man off of ice with a power-play starting at 17:39, but ended ending the period with no rebuttal for the previous two goals. Both teams came off the ice with the score set 2-0 in favor of the Gulls.
In the second period, Nichols had trouble getting shots off against the Gulls. They got up six shots in 20 minutes of play with one wide, one blocked, and four saved. Penalty trouble also hit the Bison in the second period, giving up two power plays, yet still holding out and keeping the scoring to zero with a man down. Endicott did add to their scoring efforts, though, improving the score to 3-0 with an even-strength goal at 10:31.
The third period of play saw Nichols' best shot efforts of the game, racking a total of 13 shots. Despite their best offensive period yet they were unable to find the opportunities they needed to make their way back into the game, seeing no scoring for the night. Endicott scored another couple of goals, seeing a power-play goal at 8:02 followed by the final score of the game at 14:25. Nichols again had given up two penalties in the third, this time with a full squad that could have proved useful in the final minutes of the game. The match concluded 0-5, a win for Endicott.
Despite the loss,
Liam Choquette posted 35 saves on the night, one shy of his season-high at the start of the year against Assumption College (11/2). Nichols also had more blocks than the Gulls, an 8-6 difference, with
James Berg leading with his two.
Men's ice hockey will host Endicott College on Saturday, December 6th at Levy Rink. Start time is set at 3:40 PM.
