Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Pacheco’s Goal Not Enough to Beat Johnson & Wales, 2-1

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (11/8/2025) – The Nichols College women's ice hockey team battled in a Conference of New England matchup against Johnson & Wales University, falling 2-1 at the Lynch Arena.

Nichols drops to 2-2-0 (0-2-0 CNE) while Johnson & Wales University climbs to 2-1-0 (2-0-0 CNE).

The first period was quiet for both teams, as neither found the back of the net in the 20 minutes of play. Kaylyn Bourque recorded the most shots on goal for the Bison with three, as they outshot the Wildcats 11-5. The period featured strong goaltending from both sides, with Nichols' sophomore goaltender Taylor Daley making five saves on all the shots she faced.

It took until 14:10 in the second period for a team to break through. The Wildcats' Kylie O'Keefe scored off assists by Giovanna Gulinello and Annalise MacPhee.

Johnson & Wales extended its lead in the third period as Sadie Davignon scored what proved to be the game-winner at 15:45, assisted by Jordan Hopping and Brynn Leahy. Nichols battled until the end, breaking through with Alexis Pacheco's first goal of the season at 19:38. The sophomore converted on a power play with an extra attacker, finishing off feeds from Kaylyn Bourque and Anna Lehan to cut the deficit to one, but the rally came up just short. The game ended 2-1 in favor of Johnson & Wales.

Goaltender Taylor Daley made 19 saves for the Bison, who outshot the Wildcats 37–21 and went 1-for-7 on the power play. Nichols also killed off its lone penalty and won 31 of 48 faceoffs, led by Keira Goffe's 17 wins.

Nichols returns next Friday, November 14, when they head to Boston, Massachusetts, to take on Suffolk University in Conference of New England action. Puck drop is set for 5 PM.
