East BOSTON, Mass. (11/14/2025) – The Nichols College women's ice hockey team dropped a hard-fought game on the road, falling to Suffolk University by a final score of 4-3.
The loss moves Nichols to 2-3-0 (0-3-0 CNE) on the season, while Suffolk earns their first conference win and now sits at 1-1-1 (1-1-1 CNE).
Through the first 20 minutes of play, neither team found the back of the net. Nichols was able to control the pace of the period, generating 20 shots on net compared to the Rams' 3, but Suffolk's goaltender Katelyn Michals made saves on all of them.
Suffolk found success in the second period with Emma Holmes, who scored unassisted at 7:36 into the period to make it 1-0 for the Rams. Ava Buckley added her own unassisted goal at 10:06 to double the home side's lead. The Bison responded with energy and were able to find the back of the net three times in a little over 4 minutes, all of them coming on the power play. Ema Jaskova opened the scoring for the Bison at 15:07 off passes from Kerstin Ambruso and Rhea Bullens. Isabelle Brennan from Riley Devlin and Sienna Reeves at 16:10 and Ambruso from Brennan & Keira Goffe at 19:24 gave the Bison the lead going into the final period.
Suffolk's timely scoring and strong defense in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Emma Holmes power-play goal at 8:08 tied the game at 3-3, and a late stunner by Alexia Hill from Julia Holmes with 45 seconds left in the period went down as the game-winner for the Rams. Despite the great effort of the Bison in the period, they could not convert any of their 14 shots. Suffolk took home the 4-3 win over the Bison at the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.
Goaltender Paige Almon made 21 saves for the Bison, who outshot the Wildcats 56-25 and went 3-for-11 on the power play. Nichols also narrowly won faceoffs 31-29, with Goffe leading the way with 14 wins.
