DUDLEY, Mass. (11/25/2025) - The Nichols College women's basketball team fell to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), 62-41, in a non-conference game on Tuesday night inside the Nichols Athletic Center.
The Bison move to 4-2 (0-1 CNE) overall, while the Engineers improve to 2-4 with the win.
It was a tough evening for the Bison from a shooting standpoint, with the team only hitting 12-of-65 (18.5%) shots from the field.
Alyvia Smith was the leading scorer for Nichols in the effort with 15 points, with the senior also tossing in five boards and three steals. Next in line was classmate Angie Colette with nine points on the night, along with a career-best 11 rebounds.
Nichols saw a handful of bright points in the opening quarter, with Smith and
Rylee Barrieault each hitting three-pointers early on to keep the Bison in play. However, with a 14-10 lead already in hand after one, the Engineers embarked on a 21-8 second quarter to give themselves a commanding 35-18 lead at the break.
Despite holding their own in the third quarter, the Bison were unable to gain any ground on the Engineers, with MIT matching them point-for-point in the frame at 8-8. Then, in the final period, the Bison offense started clicking with a late 11-4 run, highlighted by two more Smith triples and a quick-pass layup to Coletti, but it would be too little too late as MIT held on for the win, 62-41.
The Bison will pause for the Thanksgiving break before returning to action on Tuesday, December 6
th at CNE opponent Curry College (1-5, 0-1 CNE) at 5:30 PM.
