MILTON, Mass. (12/2/2025) – The Nichols College women's basketball team returned to the win column on Tuesday evening, defeating Curry College on the road, 54-35 for their first conference triumph of the season.
The win elevates the Bison to 5-2 (1-1 CNE) overall, while Curry dips to 1-6 (0-2 CNE) with the loss.
Senior guard
Alyvia Smith was the lone Bison player in double figures Tuesday, scoring 11 points on 4-of-9 (44.4%) success from the field.
Adriana Romano and
Kya Burdier led the rebounding with six boards each, with Romano also leading the team with two assists and five steals. Nichols finished the night shooting 23-of-67 (34.3%) from the field, 5-of-19 (26.3%) from three, and 3-of-5 (60.0%) from the charity stripe, with 21 bench points and 18 points off turnovers.
The action in the first quarter yielded a single-possession lead for the Bison of 8-6, with
Rylee Barrieault and
Summer Klein combining for two straight baskets in the final minute. Despite an early three from Romano to open the second quarter, Curry remained in close pursuit before eventually jumping into the lead at 13-11 midway through. However, the Bison gave themselves a huge boost heading into the break with a 12-3 run to close out the half, including consecutive
Isabella Lopez-Marin layups in the final 30 seconds to put the Bison up 23-16.
As the second half began, Nichols delivered a balanced attack right out of the gate, further expanding their lead to as many as 14 points in the frame. Smith provided one of the highlights of the quarter, hitting two straight triples at the 5:40 and 4:30 timestamps, with the remainder of Nichols' attack taking place inside the arc.
In the fourth quarter, Nichols took complete control of the outcome, scoring 10 of the last 11 points to secure the win, 54-35.
FDU will next head to Salem State University (3-2) on Thursday, December 4. Tip-off will be at 5:30 PM inside Twohig Gymnasium.
