Men’s Ice Hockey Drops Contest to No. 6/7 Curry

Burrillville, R.I. (11/21/2025) – The Nichols College men's ice hockey team dropped a tough Conference of New England contest on Friday afternoon, falling 6-1 to No. 6/7 Curry College at Levy Rink. After a 0-0 first period, the Colonels took the lead early into the second period and never looked back.

The Bison drops to 4-3-0 (3-1-0 CNE) with their first CNE loss of the season, while the Colonels climb to 3-1 (2-1-0 CNE).

The opening period started with both teams trading early power-play chances, but neither capitalized on the opportunity. The Bison generated several promising looks, including a pair of quality shots from Aaron Hamel, but Curry goaltender Cam Smith turned each aside. Nichols' goaltender Liam Choquette made 10 saves in the first 20 minutes.

The Colonels took control early in the second period with three unanswered goals. Curry struck first at 3:32 when Gage Dill converted on the man advantage, followed by an even-strength tally from Jesse Galassi at 4:47. A second power-play goal at 13:12 from Shane Carr extended the Colonels' lead to 3-0. Nichols broke through at 16:45 of the second period when Luca Ricci buried an even-strength goal off a rebound from freshman Justin Massa, giving the Bison life heading into the final frame.

Curry responded with another surge in the third, scoring three power-play goals off a 5-minute major to put the game out of reach. Galassi netted his second of the night at 9:14, followed by goals from Manny Cabral at 10:26 and Killian Rowlee at 12:30. The game finished at 6-1 with the Colonels returning to Canton with the win.

Choquette turned aside 36 shots in the afternoon for the Bison. Curry finished the night 5-for-9 on the power play, while Nichols went 0-for-4.

The Bison faces off against Curry College for the second game of the home-and-home series tomorrow, November 22nd at the Canton Ice House for a 3 PM puck drop.
