Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Ricci Goal Seals Win Over Johnson & Wales, 2-1

BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (11/14/2025) - The Nichols College men's ice hockey team hosted Johnson & Wales University (Prov.) on Friday for their second conference play contest of the year at Levy Rink. After a hard-fought battle on home ice, Nichols came through with a convincing 2-1 win.

Following the win for the Bison, their record improves to 3-2-0, with a conference record of 2-0-0. The Wildcats' record falls to 2-1-1, an 0-1-0 record against opponents in the Conference of New England.

Nichols opened with a relatively quick goal in the first period off a well-placed puck from Dylan Ray and CJ Zezima. Jeremy Tremblay set the tone for the Bison with his goal at 8:34, his first of the season and an even-strength score for Nichols. Despite a handful of power plays for the Wildcats in the first period, the Bison were able to halt any scoring opportunities before coming off the ice.

At 2:10 in the second period, JWU equalized with their goal seconds after the end of a power-play. Throughout the second period, Nichols managed to get 16 shots up and keep offensive pressure, but finished the second period with Liam Ricci producing a lead-taking goal off 2 saved shots from Tristan Kimmen at 13:53. Assisting the goal was Kimmen, with a secondary assist from Justin Massa. With the Bison maintaining their defensive poise, the Wildcats were only able to get 4 shots on goal, all saved by sophomore goaltender Liam Choquette

In the third period, both Nichols and JWU took 8 shots apiece, trading blows in a race for a game-tying goal for the Wildcats. The moment never came for Johnson & Wales, and Nichols ran away with their second conference win of the season.

In his third start of the season, Choquette stopped 21 on-goal shots from sinking, a definitive statistic in their win following his best goaltending percentage of the season at .955%. Defensively outside of the goal, Kimmen led in blocks for the team with his 3.

Men's ice hockey will return tomorrow at a hosting Johnson & Wales conference competition. Puck drop is set for 3:00 PM at Lynch Arena.
