BIDDEFORD, Maine (11/1/2025) - In a game that saw each team surpass 450 yards of total offense, the Nichols College football team dropped a 58-34 decision to CNE host University of New England on Saturday afternoon at Blue Storm Stadium.
With the loss, the Bison slide to 2-6 (2-3 CNE) overall, while UNE improves to 7-1 (4-1 CNE).
Two players in particular were huge contributors to Nichols' otherwise solid offense day, beginning with senior quarterback
Ian Snow who threw for 381 yards on 29 completions, with three touchdowns. Graduate student receiver
Jack Morvan was the other with a pair of receiving touchdowns, finishing the effort 14 receptions for 232 yards, and two touchdowns. On the ground, freshman
Carson Clark led the run game with 82 rushing yards and one touchdown, while classmate
Jack Beebe paced the defense with a season-high 10 tackles, including eight solo.
UNE took control early in the action with a 21-point first quarter, all the while holding Nichols scoreless off each of their four drives. The Nor'easters then added some more insurance with a touchdown on their first trip downfield in the second quarter, furthering their lead to 28-0 with 14:13 left to play in the half. However, the Bison battled their way into the endzone on the ensuing drive, erasing a pair of third downs ahead of freshman
Aiden Brailsford punching the ball into the endzone from a 2
nd and one attempt, the first touchdown of his collegiate career.
The second quarter continued with the two sides trading points down the stretch, with Nichols adding a second touchdown directly after a timeout with 5:14 left. The play saw Snow launch a deep 65-yard pass to Morvan down the middle, where made his way into the endzone to bring the score to 35-12 UNE. For good measure, the Nor'easters made sure they got the last word in for the half, scoring a final field goal to go up 38-12 at the half.
After the break, UNE continued to push further behind with a pair of touchdowns to open the third quarter, putting the contest well out of reach at 51-12. Despite the difference, Snow continued to find his receivers for 68 total yards to fuel Nichols' push down to the UNE one-yard line, as Clark pounded in his lone touchdown of the afternoon to make it a 51-20 game.
With 45:00 gone, the teams battled through another high-scoring period in the fourth, with the Bison holding the 14-7 edge. The first to score in the quarter would be Morvan, his second trip into the endzone for the day, while freshman tight end
JT Bresnahan caught a short three-yard pass from Snow to round out the Bison scoring, which was also the first touchdown of his collegiate career.
Football returns home to Vendetti Field to celebrate its Senior Day against CNE opponent Husson University (2-6, 1-4 CNE), with kickoff set for 12:00 PM.
