DUDLEY, Mass. (10/9/2025) - The Nichols College women's tennis team turned in another dominant performance against the University of Hartford, securing a 7-0 sweep on the day.
The flawless win marks the second occasion for the Bison this Fall, improving their record to 8-1 on the season and 5-1 against conference opponents. Following their loss, the Hawks fall to 0-9 and 0-6 in conference play.
The Bison opened up doubles play strong. Courts were set with
Kamora Helton and
Pamela Gonzalez Vallardi at the No. 1,
Cora Brosch and
Charis Vogler as No. 2, and
Erin Helly and
Catherine Pollock rounding out our doubles competition on the No. 3 court. The No. 2 court fittingly finished first producing a 6-0 sweep, court No. 2 picked up their win only giving up a point, 6-1. The wins from the first two courts guaranteed the doubles point for the Bison, but nonetheless the No. 3 court matched the same dominant effort in their 6-0 win to finish doubles competition. The win from the pair of Helly and Pollock marks Pollock's first win of the season.
Nichols didn't let up in singles play, claiming a win on every court across the board. Vogler swept on the No. 2 court with scores of 6-0, 6-0, and in identical fashion Helton matched that performance on the No. 1 court, 6-0, 6-0. Brosch's 6-0, 6-0 win on the No. 4 court followed shortly after, and then another great performance from Gonzalez Vallardi claimed the No. 3 court winning 6-0, 6-1.
Cassie Rice was selected for singles play at the No. 6 position and gave the Bison their fourth straight-set win in singles, 6-0, 6-0. Helly secured the sweep for Nichols edging out her opponent 7-5, 6-2.
The women's tennis team will play their next match on the road against conference opponent Gordon College on Tuesday, October 14th at the Gordon Tennis Courts. Expected start time is set at 3:00 PM.
