WENHAM, Mass. (10/15/2025) - The Nichols College women's tennis earned a hard-fought victory over Gordon College on Tuesday afternoon at the Brigham Athletic Complex.
Following today's win the Bison improve to a record of 9-1 overall, and 6-1 in games against Conference of New England opponents. The Fighting Scots fall to 7-3 overall and 6-2 in conference play. With the conference tournament quickly approaching, Nichols moves to a tying record for second in the conference.
In doubles play, the No. 1 court pairing of Kemora Helton and
Pamela Gonzalez Vallardi won out with a score of 6-1, coupled with a victory by
Cora Brosch and
Charis Vogler on the No. 2 court, 6-2.
Erin Helly and
Catherine Pollock played well in a loss on the No. 3 court, 3-6. Nonetheless, the two wins gave Nichols the doubles point to start the day.
For singles action, the Bison extended on their advantage featuring commanding performances from Vogler who cruised to a 7-5, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 position. A 6-2, 6-2 win for Gonzalez Vallardi on the No. 3 contributed to the already building lead making it 3-0 for the Bison. Helly and Pollock fought hard to secure points on their court but ultimately came short, and a close loss from Brosch 0-6, 6-3, 1-6 evened the score for the Fighting Scots, 3-3.
With everything on the table, Helton was still battling it out on the No. 1 court to win the match for the Bison. In an exhilarating 3-6. 6-4, 6-3 finish, the Bison edged out Gordon for their 9th win of the season.
The Bison will continue their campaign away from home against Endicott College on Saturday, October 18th at the South Campus Tennis Courts. The match is set to start at 1 PM.
