WENHAM, Mass. (10/8/25) – On a cold, breezy fall afternoon, the Nichols College women's soccer team fell to Conference of New England opponent Gordon College, 8-1, at the Brigham Athletic Complex. Gordon struck early and often, scoring six goals in the first half to build a commanding lead. The Fighting Scots extended their advantage in the second half, while Nichols managed a late consolation tally through Summer Bruno.
Nichols drops to 1-11-1 (0-5 CNE) on the season, while Gordon improves to 4-7-1 (2-2 CNE).
The scoring opened 20 minutes into the first half when Rachel Mincone found the net for Gordon. Just a few minutes later, Eowyn Lapp converted a feed from Ava Forbes-Smith to make it 2-0. Forbes-Smith then got on the score sheet herself in the 25th minute, this time assisted by Lapp, to extend the lead to 3-0.
Lapp added two more goals in the half to complete her hat trick, while Forbes-Smith converted a penalty to make it 6-0 going into halftime.
Early in the second half, Tia Fyden added a seventh for Gordon in the 50th minute, with Forbes-Smith earning the assist.
Nichols got on the board when Summer Bruno scored in the 85th minute. Haley Bethin drove into the box, held up the ball nicely, and found an open Bruno, who tapped it in. It was Bruno's fourth point and Bethin's sixth of the season.
The Fighting Scots answered back through Lula Wamberg to seal the 8-1 final.
The Bison's next task lies with Conference of New England challenger Wentworth Institute of Technology on Saturday, October 11th at 3 PM. The match will be held at Sweeney Field in Boston, Massachusetts.
