Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Falls to Gordon College

WENHAM, Mass. (10/8/2025) - Men's soccer traveled to Gordon College for Conference of New England competition on Wednesday night at the Brigham Athletic Complex. With a final score of 2-0, the Bison lost the match.

Following the match, Nichols' record shifts to 3-6-3 on the year, with a record against conference opponents of 1-3-1. Gordon rises to 7-3-2, and 4-0 in the CNE.

The Bison weathered early pressure coming off a strong first-half performance from Conference of New England defensive player of the week Derek Axon, who canceled several scoring opportunities for the Fighting Scots.

Nichols kept the game scoreless through the opening 27 minutes before Gordon's Nick Vavala scored a goal in the 29th minute, coming off a feed from Benny Simpson. Following said goal, Axon collected a handful of saves before halftime to keep the deficit at one for the start of the second half.

Nichols held firm throughout the bulk of the second period, featuring another save from Axon and great team defense, drawing a couple of fouls to earn free kicks and create positioning for scoring chances. But in the 87th minute, Simpson capitalized on a setup for Zach Hutt to cap off the score at 2-0 in favor of the Fighting Scots.

Freshmen appearances, including Evan Giannini, Ayden Gardner, and Bison of the Week Kamal Saad, continued in the match today, allowing multiple Bison to see action on the pitch.

Nichols will look to rebound in their next match away at hosting conference opponent Wentworth Institute of Technology at Sweeney Field on October 11th, with a start time of noon.
