CASTINE, Maine (10/4/2025) - The Nichols College football team racked up 394 yards of total offense in a 49-20 Conference of New England victory at Maine Maritime Academy at Ritchie Field.
With wins in back-to-back games, the Bison climb to 2-3 (2-0 CNE) on the season, while the Mariners drop to 0-5 (0-1 CNE).
Nichols' balanced offensive effort included a solid performance in the air, with senior quarterback
Ian Snow throwing for 223 passing yards and three touchdowns. On the opposite end,
Kevin Fuoroli Jr. and
Jack Morvan each hauled in four catches, both with a long of 39 yards and one touchdown. On the ground, freshman
Ricardo Navedo led the run game with 45 rushing yards, while classmates
Evan Toth and
Carson Clark each contributed one rushing touchdown apiece, combining for 64 yards. Senior defensive back
Brendan Coppola paced the defense with career-best nine tackles, while sophomore kicker
Nick Foynes went a perfect 7-for-7 on extra points.
The Bison were the only team to strike paydirt in the first half of the game, beginning with a Snow rushing touchdown on their second drive of the game to open the scoring 7-0. Then, in the second quarter, Nichols doubled their lead at the 3:43 mark after
Aaron Canuel caught a short five-yard pass in the endzone to make it a 14-0 game. Following a quick three-and-out by the Bison defense, Nichols further extended its lead to 21-0 following Toth's lone touchdown from 12-yards out, putting the Bison in a comfortable position at halftime.
The scoring continued in the third quarter for the Bison, with Fuoroli and Morvan each finding the endzone to push Nichols' lead to 35-0 heading into the fourth. MMA answered back with an early touchdown in the final frame to spoil Nichols' shutout bid, only for the Bison to respond just as quickly on the following drive with Clark's lone touchdown, the first of his collegiate career. Down the stretch, MMA would add another pair of touchdowns to close the gap, while the Bison struck one final time at the 6:10 mark of the period, with first-year quarterback
Ethan LaGuardia connecting with sophomore wide receiver
Carson Clark from 10 yards out.
The Bison will be off next week before returning to the road on October 18
th to take on Curry College (3-1, 1-0 CNE). Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM at Walter M. Katz Field.
