Women's Tennis Outlasts Roger Williams, 5–2, in Senior Day Clash

DUDLEY, Mass. (10/23/2025) - The Nichols College women's tennis team faced their most crucial match yet in conference play on Wednesday, clashing with Roger Williams University at the Robinson Tennis Courts. The Bison ultimately claimed another win against the Hawks on their Senior Day, 5-2.

Following the win, the Bison jump to 11-1 on the season and 8-1 in games against Conference of New England opponents. For the Hawks, they fall to 12-2 overall and 7-2 for CNE matches.

Prior to the start, seniors Cora Brosch, Catherine Pollock, and Charis Vogler were honored on and off the court for their collegiate careers with Nichols College and their dedication to the winning culture they have fostered in their time as Bison.

For doubles play, Nichols set the tone early with Kamora Helton and Pamela Gonzalez Vallardi seeing action on court No. 1 and sweeping their competition, 6-0. On the No. 2 spot, the celebrated senior pairing of Vogler and Brosch were able to secure the doubles point with their 6-1 win. Despite a great effort and match from Erin Helly and Pollock on court No.3, the Hawks took the court, 2-6.

In singles, the Bison sealed the match following dominant performances posted on courts No. 1, 2, and 3. Vogler took her point quick with a near sweep on the second court, 6-0, 6-1. What followed was a 6-4, 6-1 finish from Gonzalez Vallardi on court No. 3, and a crucially hard-fought win from Helton at the No. 1 position, 6-4, 6-3. The Hawks took points at courts No. 4 and 5, despite a three-set match from Brosch, 5-7, 6-0, 3-10. To finish out the day, Cassie Rice gave the crowd an enticing match that went to three sets, giving the Bison yet another point to cap off the win, 3-6, 7(4)-6, 10-8.

The women's tennis team will wrap up their Fall season on the road against the University of New England this Saturday, October 25th at the Blue Cyclone Complex. Match start time is set for 1:00 PM.
