Women's Tennis End Fall With Momentum for Tournament at University of New England, 6-1

BIDDEFORD, Maine (10/25/2025) - Nichols clinched their No. 2 seeding on Saturday, October 25th at the Blue Cyclone Complex against the University of New England, earning their win 6-1.

Following the victory for the Bison, women's tennis finishes their fall season with an impressive 12-1 overall record, and 9-1 for matches against Conference of New England opponents. For the Nor'easters, they finish the fall season 11-5 and 5-5 for CNE, seeing action in the conference tournament in their first season as program against the third seeded Gordon College. 

By way of head-to-head record, Colby-Sawyer College claims the No. 1 seed with Nichols slotted as the No.2 seed. Both programs will receive first round byes in the tournament, meaning a semi-final match up hosted by the Bison against the winner of the match between the Nor'easters and the Fighting Scots.

In doubles play against New England, the Bison's performance was highlighted by sweeping wins on doubles courts No. 1 and No. 2. The pairing of Charis Vogler and Cora Brosch finished first with a 6-0 sweep on court No.2, with Kamora Helton and Pamela Gonzalez Vallardi following up with a matched outcome of 6-0 on court No. 1. Catherine Pollock and Erin Helly delivered a thrilling match on court No. 3, but ultimately fell 6-7 and 7-9 in the tiebreaker. Nonetheless, the Bison continued to singles action with the doubles point in their pocket.

For singles matches, the Nor'easters opened claiming a win-by-default on court No. 6. First to finish was Vogler, who was able to win her court 6-0, 6-1. Helton produced an identical performance of 6-0, 6-1. Gonzalez-Vallardi on court No. 3 held her opponent to zero points in both sets, posting a 6-0,6-0 win. Brosch did the same on court No. 4, 6-0, 6-0. Helly earned the last point of the day for the Bison in a win on court No. 5, 6-3, 6-1.

As stated before, the Bison will host the semi-final match against the winner of the Gordon College and University of New England match-up. Time and date is set for Wednesday, October 29th, with a start set for 4:00 PM.
