BURRILLVILLE, R.I (1/4/2025) -A career night for senior goaltender
McKenzie Muir, who stopped 68 shots, was not enough as the Nichols College Women's Ice Hockey team fell 4-0 to national No. 1 Middlebury in non-conference action at Levy Rink on Saturday afternoon.
Muir registered the second most saves in program history with her 68 saves in the loss.
The Panthers opened the game with a breakaway chance off the opening faceoff, which was turned aside by Muir, her first of a career high 68 saves on the day. She stood tall as it was eight minutes into the game before the visitors opened the scoring. The goal from Olivia Gordon stood as the only goal of the opening frame.
In second period action, the Panthers added three tallies to their goal count extending the lead to four. The Bison then held the Panthers scoreless in the third to finish with a 4-0 scoreline.
The Bison defense helped Muir with 30 blocked shots in the loss.
Nichols are back in action as they head to Minnesota with a double header against Bethel in Blaine at the Super Rink. That series opens with a 7pm (CST) 8pm (EST) puck drop next Friday January 10
