BOSTON, Mass. (1/24/2025) – The Nichols College women's hockey team battled to a 3-3 tie on Friday evening against Conference of New England (CNE) opponent, Suffolk University from Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink. The Bison lost 2-1 in a shootout that decided the final conference point.

Sienna Reeves each tallied two assists, while sophomore
Cela MacDougall added an assist as well.
The Rams scored the game's first goal just over four minutes left in the first period, to take the 1-0 lead into the first intermission. The shots in the opening 20 minutes were tied a 10-10. Suffolk added to their lead with a short-handed goal in the second period, making it 2-0 Rams with 15:49 to play in the period.
Montessi then cut into the lead for the Bison with her second goal of the season and provided boost for the Bison. Pacheco and Reeves each tallied an assist on Montessi's goal. Nichols trailed 2-1 through 40 minutes of play but outshot the Rams 16-8 in the second period.
Suffolk opened the third period with a lot of pressure and scored their third goal of the game with 11:23 remaining in the game. Breen scored her second goal in as many games with assists coming from MacDougall and Reeves, once again cutting into the Rams lead.
The Bison once again did not go away and found the equalizer with 5:05 remaining in the period, thanks to Klein. As the period expired a boarding penalty saw the Bison earn a five-minute major and power-play time into the overtime period.
Nichols dominated overtime out shooting Suffolk 6-3 but were unable to capitalize on the 4-on-3 situation and the game went to a shootout, before the Bison feel 2-1 in the shootout.
Senior Mckenzie Muir stopped 29 shots in the loss for the Bison. Graduate student
Grace Melanson dominated the face-off circle, wining 18 of 29 draws to lead all skaters in the game.
Nichols returns to Levy Rink to honor their five seniors,
McKenzie Muir,
Katherine Segalla, Melissa Montessi,
Anamary Pulgar, and Shelby Eason. Puck drop is set for 4:40 p.m. on January 25.
