Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Women's Hockey Falls on Senior Day

HARRISVILLE, R.I. (1/25/2025) – The Nichols College women's hockey team dropped a Conference of New England (CNE) game to Suffolk University on Saturday afternoon as the Bison honored their five seniors for Senior Day. Nichols lost 4-2 to the Rams.

The Nichols College Division of Athletics honored seniors McKenzie Muir, Katherine Segalla, Melissa Montesi, Anamary Pulgar and Shelby Eason prior to puck drop.

Freshman Alexis Pacheco and Sienna Reeves each scored goals in the game for the Bison, while Montesi tallied a pair of assists, and freshman Kasey Litwin registered the other penalty.

Pacheco opened the scoring for the Bison after Litwin dumped the puck in from the red line. Montesi shoveled the puck around the back of the net to Pacheco who centered a pass that went off the Suffolk defender's skate and into the back of the net for a 1-0 Bison lead at 5:09 of the first period.

In the second period, Reeves cashed in as the penalty expired. Montesi won a battle along the half wall and centered a pass to Reeves who let a wrist shot go through a screen and found the back of the net. This was Reeves' first collegiate goal and the Bison extended their lead to 2-0 with 12:40 to play in the second period.

The Rams cut the Bison lead in half at the 15:38 mark, but the Bison led 2-1 into the second intermission. The Rams then exploded for three third period goals including and empty netter to complete the comeback over the Bison. The Rams out shot Nichols 12-6 in the third period, to earn the win.

Muir was excellent in net once again for Nichols, making 31 saves in the loss. The Bison were 0-3 on the power-play and 3-4 on the penalty kill.

Nichols will stay at home and face-off against Johnson & Wales on Friday, January 31st. Puck drop from Levy Rink is set for 5:40 p.m.
