HARRISVILLE, R.I. (1/17/2025) – The Nichols College women's ice hockey faced off against the University of New England in a tightly contested Conference of New England (CNE) matchup on Friday night from Levy Rink. The Bison lost 1-0 to the Nor'easters.
The Nor'easters scored the lone goal in the third period to break a 0-0 tie. Senior
McKenzie Muir was excellent in the net for the Bison, turning away 29 shots in the effort.
The Bison controlled the pace of play for the first two periods, out shooting UNE 21-18, but the game remained tied 0-0. UNE broke through at the 1:16 mark of the third period on a rebound to score the game's only goal.
Nichols was 0-2 on the power-play and did not take a penalty in the game. Graduate Student
Grace Melanson won 13-19 face-offs to lead all skaters in the game.
Nichols will travel to Biddeford, Maine to face off against UNE at the Harold Alfond Forum. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night.
