DUDLEY, Mass. (9/7/24) – Junior striker
Falyn Hunt notched a hat trick for the Nichols College women's soccer team, leading them to a 4-2 victory over Plymouth State in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Soccer Field.
The win comes as the first of the fall for the Bison, with their record improving to a 1-1-2 overall. With the loss, Plymouth State falls to 2-1 on the season.
The Bison broke the scoreless tie in the 17
th minute of the first half, with Hunt cashing in on her first of the afternoon from
Grace Killman and
Alana Snow. Twelve minutes later, freshman
Alyssa Senecal put home her first collegiate goal to make it a 2-0 game, with the assist from fellow first-year
Annya O'Rourke. Hunt later added her second of the day late in the half, which ended with Nichols ahead 3-0.
In the second half, Plymouth state struck twice across a six-minute span to cut the Bison lead down to 3-2. However, the Bison then maintained the bulk of the remaining possession, recording nine shot attempts in the process. To close it out, Hunt added her third goal of the game, unassisted in the 89
th minute, rounding out the 4-2 win for Nichols.
For Hunt, it was the first hat trick of her collegiate career. Her last multi-goal game came against the same Plymouth State Panthers, a two-goal performance on October 5th, 2022.
Women's soccer returns to action on Wednesday, September 11
th for a 3:30 PM tilt at home against Salem State University.
