DUDLEY, Mass. (9/7/2024) – The Nichols College field hockey team fell 3-0 at the hands of Wheaton College (Mass.) on Saturday afternoon from Vendetti Field.

Senior Sophia Venable was busy in net and made 12 saves in the loss for the Bison. Junior Taylor Breen lead the team with three shots on goal.

Both teams worked to figure the other out and it wasn't until 6:52 of the second quarter when the Lyons broke the ice with a redirection goal off a cross arch pass. This made it 1-0.

Wheaton connected less then 30 second later on a similar play to make it 2-0 Lyons. One more goal in the second quarter, helped Wheaton carry a 3-0 lead into the halftime break.

Neither team was able to score in the second half, but both teams had grade A chances to do so, but none better then Breen, who was robbed on a partial breakaway.

Nichols will hit the road once again and head to Chicopee, Mass. on Wednesday to face off against Elms College. Start time is set for 4:00 p.m.
