FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (9/30/24) – In a non-conference Monday evening matchup, the Nichols College Bison women's soccer team took to the road for a clash with opponent Framingham State. The Bison came up short and fell 2-1 to the hometown Rams.
With the loss, the Bison dropped to 3-5-2 (0-2 CNE) on the year.
The first half opened with a goal from the Rams in the 19th minute as Hailey Ring fired a ball from the left corner over the head of Nichols starter
Saige Frazier. The Bison outshot the Rams 13-3 in the opening 45, but that goal was the lone tally of the half, as the Rams carried a 1-0 lead into halftime.
As the second half opened, a bouncing ball off a free kick for the Bison found its way into the back of the net, tying the game up at 1-1 in the 56th minute. That goal came off the foot of
Natalie Gray, the first of her senior campaign. The Bison had a penalty kick opportunity in the 67th minute by
Ariana Owen that went just high of the net to keep the game tied.
A corner kick late in the game resulted in a Rams goal to secure the 2-1 win for the home side.
Frazier left the game early in the second half due to injury but made three saves in the outing. Sophomore
Hannah Deschene relieved her and made two saves on the night.
The Bison are back in action on Saturday, October 5th as they head to Curry College for a Conference of New England matchup with the Colonels. That match is set to kick off at 12PM.
