DUDLEY, Mass. (9/28/24) - The Nichols College women's tennis team rolled to a 7-0 conference victory over Endicott College on Wednesday afternoon at the Robinson Tennis Courts.
The Bison now stand at 5-2 (3-0 CNE) overall following the win, while the Gulls drop to 3-4 (2-1 CNE).
In doubles play, freshman
Kamora Helton and
Pamela Gonzalez Vallardi earned a 6-0 win at the top position.
Cora Brosch and
Charis Vogler promptly followed with a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point for the Bison, putting them ahead 1-0 in the match.
To open singles competition, Vogler recorded her second win on the day by matching scores of 6-0, 6-0 on court five, just before Helton made it a 3-0 match at No. 1 singles by scores of 6-1, 6-2. Nichols went on to clinch the match with Gonzalez Vallardi picking up a 6-0, 6-4 victory in No. 3 singles.
As play continued, Brosch also pieced together matching scores in each set, winning 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6 singles. Seniors
Johanna Schroeder and
Antonia Carrero tallied Nichols' final two points of the afternoon, with Schroeder posting a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles, and Carrero winning on court two by scores of 6-2, 2-6 and 10-8 on a tiebreaker.
Next up, women's tennis will host UMass-Boston (5-1, 3-0 LEC) in one-of-two remaining non-conference matchups this fall on Monday, September 30
th. Opening serve is set for 3:30 PM at the Robinson Tennis Courts.
