DUDLEY, Mass. (9/28/24) – The Bison opened the scoring, but couldn't come back from five straight goals as Women's Soccer falls to Wentworth 5-2 in CNE action Saturday in Dudley.
Before the match, the Nichols Women's Soccer Team honored Hallie Linacre '21 who passed away unexpectedly in 2020. The annual Hallie Linacre Memorial Game pays tribute to the student-athlete that Hallie was on the hill, and how her legacy and values continue to live on as pillars for the women's soccer program at Nichols.
With Hallie's number 27 on the scoreboard, graduate student captain
Grace Killman opened the scoring for the Bison with just over 27 minutes to play in the first half.
Twenty seconds later, the visiting Leopards opened their scoring and never turned back. Wentworth scored five goals between the 19th and 78th minute, to go ahead on the Bison 5-1.
Off the back of wholesale changes from the Bison, junior
Taylor Pickering scored her first career goal as she battled past the Leopards keeper, thanks to a feed from classmate
Sarah Rucci. That goal served as the game's final as it finished 5-2.
Saige Frazier opened the game for the Bison and made 2 saves in 77 minutes of action. Sophomore
Hannah Deschene relieved her with 13 minutes to play and made 3 saves on 3 shots.
Women's soccer has a quick turnaround as they're back in action against non-conference opponent Framingham State on Monday. That match is set to kick off at 7pm in Framingham.
